Allow Me to (Re) Introduce Myself

By Denise Leave a Comment

For those who know me – Hello & Happy New Year!! For those who are new to my little slice of the web, allow me to introduce myself… My name is Denise and I am a writer, speaker and coach.

I’ve decided to join the Blogging 101 Course so I can get back in the saddle and challenge myself to do this writing thing on a regular basis. I’m not much into resolutions because I believe you can resolve to do anything at any time and it doesn’t have to be the start of a new year.   It just happens that Blogging 101 coincided with the start of 2015 for me. So what better time than now! I’m a recovering procrastinator so I thought I’d get a jumpstart and get myself in gear.

Over the course of my career, I’ve written a number of things that have had more of a technical focus – primarily financial analysis. However, I’ve been looking for some sort of inspiration to jump start my writing on a regular basis. Coincidentally, the Blogging 101 Course popped up in my inbox thanks to a friend. Do you see how divine inspiration works? It always seems to show up on time! When it does  you have to decide if you will choose to seize the opportunity. I think this time that I’ll give it a shot!

The first assignment is geared to answer the questions: “Who am I and why am I here?”  “Why blog?   I’m blogging because I like writing. I mostly write technical financial analysis for work. However, I want to write about something dear to me and it just happens to be in a public forum.

Eventually I’d like to pen a book but more importantly, I’ve decided to blog and share my experiences as a caregiver because I believe that what I’ve learned over the years can help others. I plan to write about caregiving and life balance.  Within life balance falls two important topics: personal finance and health & wellness. These areas frequently get thrown by the waste side by caregivers. Oftentimes caregivers forget to put the oxygen mask on themselves first before caring for others. Some important things are left undone and catching up can become overwhelming. Still, this site is not just for caregivers in the traditional sense of the word. I believe everyone is a caregiver in some way, shape, or form. You may be thinking of a caregiver as someone who cares for an elderly person. However, caregivers may care for a special needs or disabled child, their spouse, or maybe she is a wife who’s taking care of her household while she works full time or she could be a stay at home mom. Perhaps he is a stay at home Dad that does the primary caregiving. As you can see there are endless possibilities for this “title” of “caregiver”.

I would like to connect with other caregivers, young people who are perhaps caught in the sandwich generation – those caring for their immediate family and or their elders, or just make some new connections with those who can relate. I hope to build a community where we can share and encourage each other to remember to take care of ourselves while caring for others.  My goal is to encourage you to seek the daily joys in life despite the challenges that may arise.

So join me on the journey. Let’s see where this goes!

Until Next Time…

-Be Well

Winning Strategies

Denise is a phenomenal human being. She is someone that I met in college and became inspired by with her words of encouragement and winning strategies to defeat the challenges of life.  She always found the right words to share at that moment and it still rings true to today.

A Timely Encouraging Word

Thank you for your article on Forgiveness. It was timely for me because I was having a difficult time forgiving others. After reading your article I realized that we all need to be forgiving for our transgressions and/trespasses. It's seemingly difficult at times but it's definitely doable.  After several months of meditation and prayers I was able to let go, release and forgive. It felt refreshing, and I felt as if a burden was lifted. Thanks once again for your timely article.
